"All hearts come home for Christmas" ![]() We're getting ready for Christmas at our house. We've brought out the Christmas quilts, and put the Santa wreath on the front door ![]() There will be four stockings hanging by our fireplace this year. One for each of our grandchildren, John, James, Jessica and April.
Our granddaughter April will be just twenty months old this Christmas. Four year old Jessica is going to put the star on the top of the Christmas tree. John and James are hoping for a big snow, so they can
stay home from school, and build some snowmen....
It's time to bring out my collection of old-fashioned Santas, and display them in the antique corner cupboard in the dining room.
Our grandchildren help us put up the tree. Most our decorations are handmade by friends, children and grandchildren. One year we hung homemade cookies on the tree, and after we went to bed our dog ate every cookie that she could reach. James and John always argue about who's turn it is to set up the manger scene. It gets rearranged a lot.
Another tradition is to visit Oakland Park Nursery for a horse and wagon ride and photos with Santa. The boys made cinnamon gingerbread men to give as gifts, and to hang on our little kitchen tree, along with it's cookie cutter ornaments. One very special ornament is a little reindeer made by our son David when he was ten years old. It's always hung way up at the top of the tree where everyone can see it.
Samantha's favorite spot this time of year is on the quilt under the Christmas tree. As soon as the tree is up she snuggles down for a long winter's nap.
